Comparator card from Distrupol shows ‘clear’ benefits
A comparator card on ‘Clear Polymers’ is the latest addition to the toolbox of aids for designers and moulders provided by Distrupol, Europe’s leading polymer distributor. The new card covers the range of crystal-clear materials offered by Distrupol, which combine clarity with mechanical performance to create visual appeal with durable performance.
Clear Polymers find applications in a broad spectrum of industries, from automotive and appliances, through personal care and medical products, to packaging, electrical components and engineering products. Whether polymer clarity is an essential property, such as in automotive headlamps and medical syringes, or provides marketing appeal or aesthetic advantage, like in beverage bottles or food packaging, it will often require other complementary and sometimes difficult to combine properties. These can include impact resistance, high temperature and electrical performance, or the polymer may need comply to satisfy regulations such as those for food contact and medical biocompatibility.
“Whatever your application demands, Distrupol’s comprehensive polymer portfolio can deliver a ‘clear’ solution,” says John Brenchley, Distrupol application development representative. “As with other comparator cards, customers can use our latest publication to evaluate clear plastics from a broad range of suppliers in terms of haze, thermal properties, toughness and relative cost, along with many others.” Further criteria for comparison include suitability for two-component moulding, chemical resistance, colourability and food approval.
The polymer comparator card series simplifies and speeds up the material selection process, and is seen as particularly valuable for those considering the use of polymers for the first time. The ‘Clear Polymers’ comparator card, as well as earlier publications from the series, is available digitally from www.distrupol.com , or through the regional Distrupol representatives.
