CSC to Showcase ACE Suite of Transformation Services at VMworld in Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN, Oct. 19 – CSC first announced on April 5 its ACE Suite of transformational services to accelerate the migration of applications to the cloud. ACE is the transformation component of CSC’s Application Portfolio Management lifecycle services, which spans the dimensions of transformation: planning, building and then running workloads and applications in modern service delivery vectors like cloud. ACE is a global offering that will be available first in North America, followed by Europe and other regions in the summer of 2011. ACE Factory will be displayed at VMworld in Copenhagen, October 18-20, in the CSC Pavilion 53.

Through ACE, CSC is combining best of breed technologies from VMware and VCE, the Virtual Computing Environment Company, with standard processes from CSC to quicken and streamline application migration. The ACE Factory, the first of these services, is a highly-industrialized automated managed service that quickly assesses, treats and tests an enterprise’s legacy custom and mainframe business applications for cloud deployment. This service provides a “factory” framework that utilizes the best treatment approach for the specific source-target architecture and platform, while taking cost out of work required for applications to fully optimize the advantages of cloud computing.

Initial assessment of the application portfolio uncovers the applications that will contribute the greatest value to an organization expecting new revenues or risk mitigation from core applications. Then the assessment phase of the ACE Factory determines the complexity, from simple to difficult, involved with refactoring, rehosting or rebuilding these applications. When organizations use these two dimensions – value and complexity – to prioritize workloads for the cloud they can realize the benefits of cloud – innovation, agility and cost management.

“In order to successfully grow and manage change, an organization must constantly innovate by creating new products and services, adapting to currency and market shifts, and mitigating the risks of unexpected market changes,” said Michael W. Laphen, CSC chairman, president and CEO. “Our cloud services portfolio enables the reinvention essential to a changing business by redesigning applications and workloads.”

“VMware is focused on enabling business agility for customers through enterprise hybrid cloud computing,” said Paul Maritz, CEO, VMware. “Building on the foundation of VMware vSphere® and vFabric™, VMware and CSC are helping customers achieve this agility by combining flexible IT infrastructure delivered as a service with the ability to build and migrate cloud-ready applications that leverage this infrastructure.”

“Clients are moving quickly to a business cloud for agile response, optimal speed and managed costs,” said Michael Capellas, chairman and CEO of VCE. “Companies need a world-class cloud infrastructure technology platform that VCE provides, but also require the business assessment and advisory services, workload prioritization and rapid enablement that CSC’s services portfolio provides. As a technology company, we applaud CSC’s business first approach that helps organizations accelerate the transformation of technology into quantifiable return.”

CSC recently announced BizCloud, a VMware vCloud® Datacenter Service, providing a private, on-premise cloud billed as-a-service and ready for workloads in 10 weeks. CSC ACE Factory complements the CSC Trusted Cloud and BizCloud deployment models and leverages CSC CloudBuild, platform-as-a-service, to quickly transform and run applications to populate the cloud.
